Excerpt from SUICIDE TANGO: Tallulah’s Laws of Bad Medicine

Dear Reader,

Tallulah’s Laws of Bad Medicine was presented to me by one of my first suicide patients as a warm thank-you for listening so intently. TW later recovered and became a successful psychiatrist who worked with suicidal girls and women. Over the years, she compiled these details about psychiatrists, psychologists and other mental-health professionals who “treated” suicidal patients.

Shrinks claim to treat patients but most simply diagnose and (over)medicate them with prescription pharmaceuticals that do more harm than good.

Shrinks congratulate themselves and celebrate their “treatments” and “successes” at conferences, meetings and seminars, yet America is in a suicide epidemic . . . and it’s only getting worse.

Shrinks are notorious for misdiagnosing patients, and end up killing thousands of innocent people every year.

Shrinks treat their profession as a “healing art” rather than science or medicine, because they can get away with murder and not be held accountable.

Shrinks are largely smart, but they are not necessarily good thinkers who can find satisfactory solutions to their patients’ problems.

Shrinks are arrogant MDs who fully expect to be treated reverently by their patients. Further, they also expect deference from everyone, given they see themselves at the top of their profession.

Shrinks’ patients typically have a shorter lifespan than the average healthy person in America today. Patients of shrinks die more than twenty years earlier than expected.

Shrinks still use electroshock therapy to treat some patients, although not one single shrink can explain how it works or even if it’s actually efficacious for the patient. Still, they prescribe it.

Shrinks allow “pharmers” (BigPharma executives and reps) to dictate what medications to use on patients, and even accept bribes to do so.

Shrinks will tell patients they don’t know their own minds and bodies, and will ignore what patients say.

Shrinks (and most doctors) practice “Wal-Mart” medicine, because Medicare/Medicaid and Obamacare pay so little: see as many patients as possible per day, collect as much money as possible.

Shrinks know they can prescribe medication that have a lot of side effects, and then to treat these additional health issues, shrinks will prescribe even more pharmaceuticals that do more harm than good to the patient.

Shrinks will shame patients, telling them their issues are their own fault, which causes the patient to experience even more detrimental affects.

Shrinks never admit to their mistakes, because their lawyers have told them not to. Forget that a shrink killed a patient because of over-medication.

Shrinks are poorly trained as General Practitioners, so they have little idea of how to treat organic diseases that may be the underlying cause of a patient’s anxiety, depression, etc.

Shrinks ignore what many healthcare professionals have said: shrinks could cease and desist prescribing all psychotropic and psychodynamic drugs without any harm to patients.

Shrinks are the new confessors and are adept at extracting as much private, personal and sensitive information from patients as possible. Some shrinks use this information against patients, rather than helping them.

Shrinks are well shielded by the medical community. So are all doctors. It takes years for a shrink to lose his license, even after dozens of complaints from patients and family and loved ones. The medical community as a whole does not listen to patients and their needs.

Shrinks almost never discuss with their patients preventive health measures, because it is more lucrative for shrinks (and all doctors, hospitals, and BigPharma) to keep patients medicated and visiting their offices.

Shrinks rarely speak out against bad practices in their own profession, nor do they “rat” on their own peers, even if those other shrinks harm patients.

Shrinks from India are fuckn arrogant beyond description, self-entitled, and horribly condescending to patients. Indian shrinks silently wish for the caste system here in America, with them at the top and all Americans beneath them. Indian shrinks make therapy all about them, and how patients should hang on their every word. They release those who don’t obey them, falsely labeling these patients uncooperative. Indian shrinks are the worst of all those from foreign countries, and do the most long-term damage to those in distress.

Shrinks don’t know jack about suicide. That’s why we kill ourselves more than ever before in the history of America, including during depressions, recessions and times of war and strife.

Shrinks suck.

Sincerely,

Jon Harley Moore, MD/PhD
