The Fastest Way to Learn How to Write a Great Story

This will be the fastest how-to article I’ve ever written.

Every writer and author whose artworks you enjoy is your mentor. Here’s a nice plot twist: put them all to work for you!

1. Watch a great movie or tv show. If you’re into writing a dark comedy, check out the show LUCIFER. Study each scene, all the dialogue, and the plot line. Most dialogue in books kinda sucks, so write the dialogue as if it were your own. Say it out loud. Own it.

2. Take your fave book and type each word, paragraph and chapter as if you originally wrote it. Own every ounce of it. Become a part of the entire story. You are the Founding Mother.

3. Repeat as necessary until you find yourself inserting new dialogue, scenes, etc. into the movies and shows you watch, the books you read.
